PATTERN INFORMATION

An homage to a very odd structure along the Grand River in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This pattern utilizes slipped stitches to imitate the structure of steps allowing fish to swim upstream against the currents and dams installed along the river in downtown GR.

This hat is knit in the round from the bottom to the top.

Yarn: Super Bulky Weight; Samples knit in Lion Brand Yarn Wool-Ease Thick & Quick
Gauge: Using larger needles, 10 sts/12 rows = 4 stitches in stockinette
Yardage/Grams: 65 yards or 97 grams; will use less than one skein of recommended yarn.
Needles: 16” Circulars in US 11 for brim, US 13 for body. DPNs in US 13 for decreasing
Notions: Stitch marker to mark beginning of round, darning needle for weaving in ends
Size: Adult
