I love fast, instant gratification knits. The best and easiest way to accomplish quick projects for me has been to use bulky weight yarns and I have found a new favorite!
My sister and I were perusing the aisles of our local Joann store and in the bottom of an end cap we dug out a few balls of Buttercream yarn. I’m not super familiar with this brand, but I’m fairly certain it is an exclusive brand to Joann. It retails for $14.99, but I purchased it on sale for $7.49.
The yarn is detailed on a Ravelry page and on Joann’s website.
This is the first time I’ve used this weight in a long time. The fiber itself is an untwisted, single string. The balls are typically 87 yards or 200g in weight. The fiber content is 50% super wash wool, and either 50% acrylic or 45% acrylic and 5% viscose, depending on the colorway. It has a great hand feel, and doesn’t have the same squeaky hand feel that a full acrylic yarn does. Because it an untwisted yarn, it has a nice halo but would be prone to felting if washed.
I used one ball and had enough to make a hat and pom.
My first project has the Chunky Dot Beanie by Stephanie Jessica Lau of the blog All About Ami.
The next hat project I made was The Looking Glass Hat by Jill DeMarco of Yarn It All.
